Authentic vintage French Army M47 cargo trousers dating to the early-to-mid 1950s M47 production period. These are the highly collectible early HBT (herringbone twill) version, made from heavy cotton and featuring the classic construction associated with the earliest generations of French post-war military uniforms. The pants appear to be new/unworn vintage stock. The HBT fabric is still crisp and retains the hard original creases along the legs.

There is some minor surface dust from long-term storage, which I have intentionally left rather than washing the pants. The fabric also contains some small natural nubs/slubs in the cotton weave. These are part of the original texture and character of the vintage HBT fabric and are not damage or defects. Early/Mid-Period M47 production, approximately 1950s. Double-button waistband closure, characteristic of early M47 production.

Heavy cotton Herringbone Twill (HBT) fabric. Classic olive drab military color. The early HBT M47 trousers are particularly desirable among collectors of French military surplus, vintage military clothing, and post-WWII European military uniforms. The M47 was part of the French Army's post-war uniform system and saw use during the mid-20th century. These pants appear to have never been worn, based on the exceptionally crisp fabric and hard creases remaining in the legs.

They do have some minor dust from storage, which has not been washed out. I prefer to leave these in their original stored condition rather than risk altering the vintage fabric. Please also note that the HBT cotton has small natural nubs/slubs throughout the weave. This is a characteristic of the original fabric and should not be considered a flaw. Please examine all photos carefully, as they are an important part of the description.

Waist: 19.5" across (approximately 39" waist). Please compare these measurements with a similar pair of pants for the best indication of fit.

A great example of an early French Army M47 HBT cargo trouser, especially noteworthy for its unworn condition, early double-button waistband, original heavy HBT cotton, and Sapivog Épinal markings. Feel free to reach out with any questions.
