Excellent + 1944 Ww2 British Army Issue Military Leather Jerkin Size 2 Wearable

  

An excellent example of a very wearable British Army issue leather jerkin. This one shows very little signs of use but does display some storage wear.

The label shows that it is a Size 2 garment, which fits me perfectly. I'm 6' tall and on the larger side, yet I can do up the buttons without any pulling or stretching of the garment; so, don't go by the label dimensions, as military jerkins are deliberately oversized to fit on top of a battledress. This is probably the most popular size, which means that there are not many left in this super condition. Made in 1944 by Dephyrane Garments London, this jerkin is sound throughout, with good solid stitching. All leather panels are supple with just some minor signs of moth to the cloth interior.

Externally, just below the second buttonhole from the top, there is some minor nibbling that extends onto the leather edging. Still, this jerkin is in lovely and clean condition without any rips, unpleasant odour or staining. As these jerking were often a patchwork of leather pieces, it is particularly nice to find one that has been assembled in an aesthetically pleasing construct of panels.

Also, it would appear to have retained all of its original buttons. All in all, a great wearable example.
