Very Nice Functioning IR Binoculars! These are my last set and my personal pair. If you're a collector then you already know how to use these. What you see is what you get. If you get an Infrared light you want to stay in the 850 NM range!

These are old and do not function like new night vision or infrared. Make sure you do your research on these. Also the battery and the way these Binoculars work they can put off a lot of voltage. So I would recommend anytime your toying with wires or working on them to take the battery out.

This is more of a collector piece. The M18 Binoculars were introduced in 1962! The M18 infrared binoculars are vintage, active infrared viewing devices used by U. Military forces during the Vietnam War era.

Active Infrared Technology: Unlike modern passive night vision or thermal gear, the M18 relies on an active infrared source. It requires an external infrared illuminator (such as an IR-filtered spotlight or searchlight) to shine invisible IR light onto a target, which the binoculars then convert into a visible image. Daylight Use: Because they use image-converter tubes rather than modern high-gain intensifiers, they can technically be turned on in daylight without burning out the optics, though performance in daylight is poor. Power Source: The unit typically runs on standard C batteries housed in a separate battery compartment connected via a power cable. Dimensions: Roughly 10 inches long by 5.25 inches wide, with lenses about 2.5 inches in diameter.

Case: Usually issued with a heavy-duty, olive-drab metal transport and carrying case (often stamped with part number 10514520) featuring fitted interior foam.
