Vintage 70s 80s US Army USGI M1 Steel Combat Helmet, Liner & Woodland Camo Cover

  

This Vintage 70s 80s US Army USGI M1 Steel Combat Helmet, Liner, Chinstrap and Cover is in good condition overall but shows expected signs of age, service and storage. The helmet shell is heat stamp marked "7463" appearing to denote production by the Parish Division of the Dana Corporation between October 1968 and August 1969. The helmet shell retains a strong amount of green paint that appears to be original. Of note, there is one noticeable stress fracture crack that can be noted on the backside helmet.

This crack cannot be seen when a cover is installed and would not detract from display. This is a common problem for M1 helmet shells. Both chin strap swivels are firmly attached and show no signs of abuse or neglect.

The chinstrap appears to be 80s era production and is in fair condition but shows clear signs of age and service. The helmet liner is a "Type II" Parachutist model and the ink contract stamp on the internal web suspension appears to date production to 1970.

Some of the additional reinforcement straps have been cut and one of the frontal suspension straps has torn. A "modern" sweatband has been installed and functions as you would expect. The exterior of the liner has been painted Gloss Black and shows areas of loss and flaking. No cracks or serious damage can be detected on the liner. The Woodland Pattern Camouflage Helmet Cover is in good condition but traces of age and past service are present. The internal side of the liner is clearly DLA contract stamped and production appears to have been carried out in 1983. No rips, tears or holes can be found however there are several names written in ink on the exterior side of the cover though none detract from display. The elastic helmet band is in very good condition, is named (WINKLER) and has the glowing "Cat Eye" tabs associated with 80s production. Please examine the photographs carefully for the best description of contents and condition.
